My older brother tried to teach me how to shoot when I was 17. The Air Force tried again when I was in my 20s. It didn't take. Now, a senior citizen, I am so concerned about the political situation that I am motivated to learn whatever I can. I know now that learning to shoot goes way beyond firing bullets at a target. This is a fantastic book for someone like me.
Contains a wealth of information geared more towards the beginner but the section on legal issues alone makes it worth buying. some of it is common sense but that does seem in short supply these days. It isn't political, militaristic or scare mongering. Just the facts.
Anyone who has a firearm should read this book and review its contents from time to time, regardless of one's proficiency and experience. It's that good and that necessary. Didn't like all of the plugs for USCCA, but then they are tied with the NRA for the most obnoxious marketing.
This has been a fantastic read. It's given me the fundamentals and basics that I needed to brush up on, and taken me on a journey of so much more information and knowledge that I need and want in order to be sufficiently and effectively prepared. I would recommend this for anybody, whether a novice or veteran gun owner.
Very comprehensive coverage of concealed carry. It includes affects encountered during a shoot scenario, what happens after the event, how memory is affected, and much more. Law Enforcement officers will go through the same effects such as tunnel vison, adrenaline rush, memory interpretation impact. I highly recommend this book. Concealed carry is much more than taking the training, passing a test, and some live fire time.
Great concealed carry manual. I've been teaching NRA classes for sometime, and I must say, this book is a breath of fresh air! Great graphics and pictures with up to date and incredibly informative graphics. I WILL be using this book in my next classes to increase knowledge and retention for beginners and advanced students. Great job, Mr. Martin!
Not just home defense, but personal awareness and safety in many situations. It provides legal information, safety/firearms instruction. Overall, an excellent guide with very valuable content in multiple areas. I'm not even half-way through it and it's already more than worth the price. A very good starting point for people looking to develop broad knowledge but also some specific skills.
This is a good book to help you think about the foundations of CCW. From this book I would strongly recommend progressing to other reads like: Violence of Mind also sold in Amazon. The common theme of this work as well as others is to be situationally aware, avoid confrontations, and think, think, think (can't be said enough). For anyone looking for a text to refresh or frame their CCW state of mind this is a great place to start. Way better than any NRA writing -nothing against the NRA but their versions are very bland compared to this work. I can strongly recommend this book but I would also (as noted) encourage expanding your reading around what and how you should carry a firearm for protection.
