Ed Piskor is my new comics hero. This is a Crumb - Pekar - Kirby (yeah, I went there) level-find. This book has so much maturity and flow. It's not only a history lesson - these guys were at the vanguard of a musical revolution, operating, in some cases, out of college dorm rooms. KRS One even exchanges tuition to NY School of the Arts for pay for his record - it is also a love letter to comics. Leaf through one. Feel that aged paper. And Piskor can draw.
Compelling, informative, and entertaining. Piskor's name will be legendary due to this series. Lovers of the classic era of rap should scoop this up.
