If you want a more thorough and granular understanding of the blockchain, this should be one of the top three books you read.Exactly what the title states, it delivers and in a quite detailed fashion. In terms of depth of information and complexity of concepts, it falls in the middle of a book like “The Internet of Money” (which, although a reasonably quality read is mainly a primer for overall concepts and relating the paradigm shift that cryptocurrency and the blockchain represent) and “Mastering Bitcoin” (a rather technical breakdown of how the blockchain works from a mathmatical and computer science basis).For the unindoctrinated, this book might have too much information and go into too much detail on how financial transactions work and why the blockchain is truly revolutionary. For the generally knowledgable investor, developer or interested outsider, this book goes into great detail on the major constructs and functionality of the blockchain. It does not possess the hype or opinion that so often permeates this topic but instead offers clear and concise chapters discussing main points quite thoroughly.Again, this is non-technical in the sense that it does not go into topics such as discussing the bitcoin API or go into mathmatecal detail on how a public key is calculated using elliptic curve multiplication, but technical to a point where it gives you a proper education on blockchain functionality and how it relates and what the parallels are to the current financial systems in place.

Excellent primer. Its step-by-step approach might test some readers' patience, but I found it very helpful in cementing my understanding. I also like that it's fairly hype-free; it's very honest about blockchain's challenges. What struck me is that, given the amount of effort the blockchain goes through to achieve its objectives, you really need to have an appropriate use case that *requires* a distributed, peer-to-peer architecture andnon-trusted nodes, plus can tolerate "eventual consistency."Really helpful.

After way too much time spent trying to get to the bottom of this subject using YouTube Videos and web articles I finally decided to learn it the old fashioned way- with a well written, carefully targeted book by solid and knowledgeable author.And that's all it took. This is book is presented a in a series of 25 short chapters- each one a tight, but highly informative addition to the previous chapter. By Chapter 8, I finally saw where all this was going but still had some questions. By Chapter 15, these questions were answered and I was developing new questions. Most of these were answered in the final chapters.Very well written and organized. It turns out that thanks to Mr Drescher, blockchain is not at all as scary/difficult as I had assumed. Highly recommended.

If you are serious about understanding blockchain and need assistance conceptualizing the basics, look no further. I have researched numerous books, articles, papers and other materials trying to improve my knowledge of blockchain, but this is one of the best!

The information is helpful and I learned a lot but the book tends to be very repetitive. If it could be revised and edited to be more concise then it would improve the quality a great deal.

In fact, in the long run, digital currency may well be the least important of industries that the blockchain technology will disrupt and disrupt significantly. I had three issues with the book: first, there is a bit too much redundancy in the book. I'm sure the author felt it necessary given the technical nature of the blockchain, its algorithms, and hash puzzles, so this is a minor criticism. More serious to me was the high number of grammatical and typographical errors in the book. The author is a good writer; his copy editor was somewhat blind. There must be three dozen errors, the most irritating of which is the lack of subject/verb agreement. My final negative is the end of the book where the author talks about the future impact of blockchain on a variety of industries. This was dealt with too simplistically and it appeared that the author wanted to finish the book and not bother with some in-depth thinking about how blockchains can impact and disrupt many industries in the future. That said, if you are interested in blockchains, this is a very good way to start. And unless you are quite technical, albeit this is a book for beginners, you will find yourself wondering throughout the book how this all really works.

A thorough top-down view of the blockchain; the problems of solves, the logic that underpins the solutions and the structural opportunities and challenges that the new girls presents. Daniel does a great job of using friendly metaphors to boil down complicated concepts. Well worth the read to understand the guys of the term "blockchain". Having read this, you will be smarter than 99% of the public about the topic.

What follows is a struggle for survival with little resources, forcing the protagonist to use his brain instead of his brawn.The story is straight forward with a promise for more. The protagonist is likable and smart. The sidekicks a bit flat, but that is to be expected in this short amount of time. Game mechanics are based on Dungeon and Dragons. They don't dominate too much except for the bug critters near the end - too much much detail.Biggest downside for me was the overly descriptive texts especially in the beginning. Made me almost stop reading. Of course, relations are simple as well (esp near the end). Not unexpected, but not for everybody.All in all, curious were things are going. Good for its genre, and I am likely to buy part 2.

Wow what a ride! This was a wonderful read, action packed and full of fun! This cross genre Dungeon Core and Harem fits together so well, and the characters are each worthy of their own story. I really enjoyed the arc of this, had a nice tabletop feel with plenty of nerdy humor. The relationships between the MC and various (no spoilers) companions are super tasteful and dynamic, and added so much to the story! This book has me dreaming about kicking ass and cuddling cat girls... Now I just need to know what happens next!!!

This book is hard to describe, it reminds me a little of monster core and dungeon master. It involves the mc summoned to a new world and forced to protect a dungeon core from invaders, corrupt gods, and other dungeons. Along the way the mc starts building a monster girl harem including a loyal cat girl and a scorpion queen. I can not wait to see how this series continues. If you love dungeon core and harem books than this book should be your next new adventure.

Since, apparently, dungeon lords don't sleep. Clay is always on the move in this book of non stop action. Summoned from our world, Clay must learn on the fly how to govern a dungeon. Good news is he starts collecting some quality(and beautiful) help. This is an exciting beginning to a new dungeon lord/core series. Can't wait for more.

The writing has been finely edited, and the book flies off to a great start. It shows a mix of both magic and technology without spewing one way or another. All resources are used to their fullest abilities and with a show of creativity. It even shows a great deal of strategy with the decisions. I expected more trap based nitpicking but was surprised to see this book steers clear of that and even provides a short reason why, for at least this book (thank you for the great maps provided throughout, very helpful). The romantic interests need a little more character story backing, but seeing as how short of a period of time has passed in this book, it's understandable. Very promising read, really looking forward to more of Nick's work.

A fun book about a dungeon that wants to live and grow. Great MC. Loved his style. Good story and well edited. A fun adventure.

To be honest I struggled with this book. The first two chapters lead me to believe there was going to be more of a focus on the Inkolana Cartel and explanation of their “organic” computer and the “Orcs” that they employed as hired muscle. Then, all the sudden I was plunged into Soketra and the difficult to comprehend MC’s non-corporeal incarnation as a Dungeon Lord, with no further explanation of Inkolana or why they had that creepy brain filled computing system. It was kind of like taking the Nestea Plunge without the tea or the water. However, there were enough good moments and fascinating concepts that I gave it a solid three stars.**** SPOILERS ***************** LAST WARNING ***************I needed more back story or world building to take place to know and enjoy what was going on. In the end I was left wondering, what is Inkolana really? Is Soketra some game imbedded in their system? If so, how did Clay dream about Nephkhet? The “Orc that comes to talk with Clay at the end is described as the same one that kidnapped him, but he has a totally different and more complex personality. Lastly, is Clay’s Dungeon a firewall for Inkolara’s system or is it the system itself?I liked the concept of this world and the bare bones of a great story are all there. I also liked that the Harem aspect wasn't written as erotica /smut. It wasn't a bad read and it is something that I would pick up from Kindle Unlimited just because the title and subject matter appeal to me.It just didn’t have expansive feel of the virtual worlds I am used to or the elements of humor and nail-biting suspenseful adventure that I have come to love and expect in Lit-RPG and Harem from Shadow Alley Press. I felt like a lot of time was spent framing concepts that were never filled out or completed. In the end, I was left with far too many unanswered questions.

One of the best books for Conservative Lutherans.

Arrived promptly. I am reading it now and like what I have read so far.

God has truly blessed the church with believers such as Harrison who live what they write about. Harrison shares his experiences with the Canadian native Indians to a chaotic inner city neighborhood in Indiana to tsunami ravaged Indonesia, each of them God's mercy in theology of the cross was made clearly known to Harrison and the community around.He shares his growing passion for mercy outreach through Christ's church, which is somewhat fresh and new for Lutherans, but shouldn't be. It just was that this had diminshed among us, and is now being resurrected and taking off thanks to the blessings of Harrison and others.The motivation for mercy ministry is hereby not admonished via programs or inspiration stories or guilt trips or promised growth, but on solid basis of the Gospel of Christ. The author is well versed in both the Scripture and church history he offers, seasoned well with his own experiences which makes for great reading.Adding to all of this are some great B&W photos and a nice Bible Study attached. A truly fine resource for this historically neglected work of Christ among us which is making a needed resurrgence.

From its earliest pages, this book commends itself to be a uniquely inspiring work. In the opening sentence of the Foreward, Rev. Ray S. Wilke writes: "I have waited thirty-eight years for this book to be published" -- not because Harrison is such a slow writer but because Wilke had not seen such an unfolding of the Gospel even during his pastoral training at the seminary in the 1960's, the decade of Harrison's birth.As far as Harrison is concerned, this book couldn't have been written any sooner. First he had to cut his teeth piloting with missionaries in northern Canada, initiating neighborhood renewal in center-city Fort Wayne and traveling around the world as the Executive Director of Human Care for The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS), bringing relief to people in diverse cultures and desperate situations. He had to learn that the theology he studied in his early years truly addressed the human condition, seeing how mercy meets misery.Harrison leads readers in short order from rural Iowa to urban Kenya, from recent anecdotes to ancient history -- and from the visceral to the cerebral. He serves as an expert tour guide who has personal knowledge of the cares and concerns weighing heavily on people in the places he has served and visited. One can easily tell that these pages were not composed by some half-baked wannabe media preacher, but by a well-seasoned pastor who has learned in the theology of the cross what it means to "Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep," (Rom. 12:15).The subtitle of the book, "How to Put Your Faith Into Action," is a bit misleading. Readers will be delighted to find out that Harrison's work is not another "how to" do-it-yourself manual. He neither attempts to manipulate readers with guilt nor challenge them to rely upon their own gumption to aspire to a religious life. This book is really all about what God does and had done for us in Jesus Christ. It always begins at the cross with what Christ has done for us and then shows how that should and does impact how we live and how we show mercy to others as it has been shown to us. I have truly enjoyed this and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a book that helps them to understand Christian living without giving them a whole list of rules to follow. This is Gospel living.

Was not what I was looking for. Did not have instructions on how to baptize. Will not recommended to anyone. Over disappointed.

This book was adequate in content and presentation. The contents was somewhat comprehensive and easy to read. Would have been nicer in a pocket sized format with a nice hard cover. Definately overpriced for what is offered. The cd is ok but like most it will not be used much.

This book is by Radu Florescu, who co-authored the more successful (and still in print) "In Search of Dracula."In Search of Frankenstein is an investigation of the historical roots of the iconic Frankenstein, a story that was - famously - born in Mary Shelley's nightmare.Because of the veritable treasure trove of historical and cultural information available to be mined as possible fodder for Bram Stoker's creation, the Dracula book is more likely to be enjoyed by the fans of that novel, whereas, this book is much more likely to be enjoyed by fans of the author, Mary Shelley.The most interesting elements of this quick read are the character studies of the literary band of travellers consisting of Lord Byron, Dr. John Polidori (author of 'The Vampyre: A Tale"), Percy Bysshe Shelley and Mary Shelley and Mary's stepsister Claire Clairmont. A major source for this aspect of the book is "History of a Six Week's Tour," written mostly by Mary Shelley. The 'History' also contains a poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley: Mont Blanc.The reasons that this is the most interesting part are (1) The strong impression that Florescu gives that the story of how the novel, Frankenstein, came to be is as much myth-making as the novel itself, and (2) there just isn't that much solid or useful information on any historical foundation of the novel. Yes, there was an aristocratic German family named Frankenstein. Yes, there was a controvertial theologian, doctor and alchemist, named Johann Conrad Dippel, who was born at Castle Frankenstein. The bulk of connecting these things to the creation of the novel is based on the possiblity that the Shelleys MAY have heard about these things during their travels. This is not at all implausible, and of course, the name 'Frankenstein' must have come from somewhere, but that's pretty much the beginning and end of it. Florescu falls back again and again on the relationships between and among the members of the travelling party, as there's really not that much else to write about.All in all, I enjoyed this book.

Amazon seems to think this is fiction. Its not...but its not quite history either.

The Frankenstein myth, or story, existed long before Hollywood and Boris Karloff got to it. In Mr Florescu's fine book, he has searched out and actually found the sources for these tales and the actual Castle Frankenstein where some of these stories had their beginning. There's the legend of Georg von Frankenstein and the "dragon monster" that terrorized the locale and how he did battle with it. There's another story that dates from the early 18th Century about the alchemist Dippel who claimed to have been able to create gold from base metals and also dabbled in the creation of an artificial man. Both these stories and a few others, Mr Florescu more than aptly proves, were more than likely the influence on Mary Wollstonecraft when she and the English poet Shelley had made their excursion down the Rhine.Fascinating history of the whole area and of the lives of Mary, Shelly and Byron living together in Switzerland.I highly recommend this book to anyone who is as intrigued as I am by such people and events. Don't pass this one up!

The author was at a considerable disadvantage when he went in search of Frankenstein - there is no one historical figure who corresponds to Victor Frankenstein the way Vlad Tepes corresponds to Dracula.He solves this quandry by spending most of the book in search of Mary Shelley's travel itinerary instead, which can be interesting, but also as dreadfully boring and stuffy as any early English travelogue. Celebrity gossip about Percy and Byron is used to fill in extra pages - again interesting, but not what the cover promised.Overall, this was not the book I'd hoped for, a book that explores the history of the mad scientist concept as thoroughly as the vampire has been covered. It may still be worth reading, but only if you know what you're getting into.

I've been researching homeschool practices and resources for the past year, because I strongly feel that this is what I'm meant to do as a first time mom and onward. For one, I don't have a lot of faith in the current education system in place, but even more importantly I believe the rewards of homeschooling will be so great, and rich, and personal for my children, an experience the public school may not be able to give. I discovered the Charlotte Mason method to resonate with me the most profoundly. The depth of love of learning and values expressed in Karen Andreola's book are exactly what I've been looking for. I highly recommend "A Charlotte Mason Companion" to be read by anyone who wants to bring back the true love of learning in education, in a way that their children and them selves will be enriched by, not just for a period of time that will be drilled in through lifeless acquisition of facts, only to be lost and forgotten, but for a meaningful, curiousity-driven yet structured, and joyful lifetime.

I wish I had this when my children were toddlers. It is a wealth of information and inspiration. I would have liked to have been able to implement the ideas earlier in my children's lives, but it is still very much applicable at the ages of 8 and 9 and older. Plus, it is addresses attitudes and character development in children as well as caused me to examine my own. I love this book! Lots of ideas and resources.

Great book. A lot of good advice and information on Charlotte Mason and her teaching method (as well as how the author implements the CM method herself). Some of the wording is a bit hard to follow- kind of rambling, sometimes archaic style. It's not impossible to understand, but if your audience is mainly busy parents looking for homeschooling information, it would be nicer to have things written for ease of reading and understanding, not eloquence. Good read, but a very long one.

I am really enjoying this book! The chapters are short, but have wonderful little nuggets of information without being to long and drawn out. Looking forward to implementing the techniques shown in this book! I only wish that it had a list of good real books to use, but there are other books that do and online as well.

This is one of my go-to references for inspiration and instruction on the homeschooling life. (Another must-read is Teaching from Rest by Sarah Mackenzie.) Nick Karras's lovely photos capture that most delicate and unique of a woman's features, her outer genitals. Over forty examples appear here, printed in a warm, almost romantic monochrome. Because of the intimate nature of these photos and because of each viewer's personal associations, responses to these photos are sure to be highly varied and individual.One response simply takes these organic forms as visual abstractions. Viewed that way, simplicity of the basic structure and complexity of the variations create a rich balance that human artists rarely achieve. Another viewer might see these anatomical photos, isolating just of her body's features, as depersonalizing. Paradoxically, one could also see these as deeply personal. Outside of doctors, most people encounter a vulva (other than one's own) only in deeply intimate settings. It seems quite proper that a woman might reserve the most distinctive parts of her physical self for those who already appreciate her uniqueness most. A book like this helps the viewer realize just how wide the range of possible appearances can be, and so emphasizes the individuality of each one.This book goes well beyond Femalia in some ways. Purchased for my son for Christmas (he was 10 at the time). He literally freaked out. He loves all things Zelda, and absolutely adores these books (I bought 1 and 2). He proceeded to read both in the matter of days (and this is a kid who received video games & such too). I am writing this review 9mos later, and he still grabs them when we go on road trips, etc. Great books, and I am purchasing the next in the series soon!

This was also a awesome manga adaptation of the video game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and I recommend this manga book to those who like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Ocarina of Time has always been one of my favorite video games, along with Majora's Mask, they have to be, hands down, the best games I've ever played. Part of what made me like them so much was their deep story and rich characters. But, being N64 games, the technology wasn't quite there for the developers to be able to tell a complete story with 100% full character development and structure. The cutscenes had to be reduced in order to leave room for actual gameplay; this was great since it left it to the player's imagination to fill in the blanks and connect the dots to make the story complete. What this manga does (along with Majora's Mask's manga) is expand on the game's story and focus on characters instead of fighting/battles. It's a great purchase if you're a fan of both games and I fully recommend it. The drawing are beautiful, taking inspiration from the anime-like style of the games' actual artwork.

I had just finished playing Ocarina of Time Master Quest a few days before I purchased part 1 of this manga. The manga really stays true to the game, while adding in it's own little elements! It really showed the relationship between Link and Zelda that we all wanted to see! And although Link is a mute in the game, his personality is exactly what I expected it to be, which is great. I really loved this book, and part 1, some moments actually left me touched.And of course the book is "backwards"... it's a manga. That is how they read in Japan.

I haven't read this book yet, but I just beat the game so I'll get on it soon. I didn't want spoilers. I've read a few others and even though they are categorized as children's graphic novels, I still enjoy them as an adult.

I bought it for my grandson and he loves it.

I lovelovelove Ocarina of Time, and I loved the manga. I'm only giving four stars because a few pages were ripped out, but it wasn't anything that really took away from the story, and I didn't feel like it was totally worth it to send it back and wait for a new copy.Obviously, some things are different from game to book, but I enjoyed the story nonetheless. When I ordered this, I got Vol 1 and Majora's Mask
