This is an amazing book. I often read it to my daughter when she was 4 to 9. I bought this one for my 6 year old grandson. This is THE most BEATUIFUL book. This was one of our favorite children's books. I bought this one as a gift now 10 yrs after our kids have "flown the nest". Breathtaking artwork. A wonderful realistic story. AND I must tell you, as a family we started "calling owls" after reading this book and it works! It's quite amazing. This is the most beautiful book I read to my children. The language is beautiful and very soothing. The illustrations make you feel the cold and the warm breath of the child. Interestingly, since I have daughters I always assumed the child was a girl. But if you look closely, it can be a boy or a girl. I keep a couple of copies of the book to give to new parents and my children have continued the tradition.
Gorgeous pictures and eloquent and beautiful writing. This is truly a book that parents will enjoy reading over and over as much as the kids do. We've bought this book a number of times to give a gift. We started reading it to our kids at age 2 and they are still engaged three years later.
Love this book. I bought it as a Christmas gift for my son and am so glad I did. The illustrations are great and I appreciate the story as well. My Dad used to take us owling and I hope to do the same with my son when he is old enough. What a good reminder of the wonders of childhood.
