This was a really great read, it was incredibly heartfelt and despite some crazy situations it was still very down to earth. One thing this book had going for it was the way it was written in alternating voices. The authors, Green and Levithan, each took turns writing from the point of view of their respective Will Graysons. And they wrote the characters in completely different ways, the way the chapters are written corresponds with and highlights the differences between the two Will's.The characters themselves were amazingly easy to understand. Even though I couldn't actually relate to any of the situations they were in I still felt like the feelings were conveyed really well. The depression one of the Will's suffers was explained very realistically in the book and was handled in a way I haven't seen in many books before. He isn't discovering his depression, he's just at the point where he's living with it and it isn't romanticized. The other Will is going through problems with his love life (with Jane) and his friendship (with Tiny). I connected really well with the problems he was facing with Tiny and I felt it was solved in a wonderfully touching way.Overall I read this book in only a few hours, so it was a pretty quick read for me. I just didn't want to put it down. It was incredibly funny to the point where i actually was laughing out loud and by the end I had cried at least once. I would recommend this to most readers as a great book about love and friendship.

Unlike other John Green books, this one did not have me curled up on my bed crying for hours. However, it still had that "can't-put-it-down" quality that all of his books seem to have. I brought this thing with me everywhere- I would read it while waiting in the car, I would bring it to work and read it when business was slow, and I would read it in the middle of the night when I knew I should be getting some sleep. I absolutely fell in love with Tiny and both of the Will Grayson characters in this book and the story line was great. I have so many books on my reading list, and I'm glad I checked this one off.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan is about 2 Will Grayson's and their life. I have to say I was not the craziest fan of this book under a third of the way in. The stories of both Will Grayson's separately didn't captivate me as when they actually meet. When they meet the story was amazing. I kept thinking about the book when I was not reading the book. Okay so Will Grayson 1, best friend's with Tiny and is known around school. Will Grayson 2, ex-boyfriend to Maura, and figuring out that he is gay. When their worlds collide it changes both of them for the better. They figure out what they want out of a relationship and learn to do something with said relationship. The reader keeps wondering how this story will go and what will happen to these two Will Grayson's. Funny and heartbreaking at times, David Levithan and John Green wrote an amazing book.Some of my favorite quotes:-That's the thing about Tiny: his problems are so huge that yours can hide behind them.-If anyone ever uses lol with me, I rip my computer right out of the wall and smash it over the nearest head.-You like someone who can't like you back because unrequited love can be survived in a way that once-requited love cannot.-One of these days, I keep telling myself, you'll learn to truly shut up and not care.-But I mean, why do you have to fix the salad? Who broke it? I didn't touch it. Did you break the salad, mom? If you did, YOU'D BETTER FIX IT!-Being gay is not an excuse for being a dick.-It's all about falling you land and get up so you can fall again it's all about falling I won't be afraid to hit the wall again.

Basically I loved this book. It's funny and for some reason I'm not sure I understand I want to call it adorable. This is the story of Tiny Cooper, Will Grayson #1's (aka John Greens Will Grayson) best friend and Will Grayson #2's(David Levithans) eventual love interest. The book is about two Will Graysons' who randomly meet and the way their lives change afterwards. It's about Tiny Dancer, Tiny Coopers life in the form of a musical. It's about love and depression and friendship and I could go on but basically it's just really fun. I don't know that everyone or anyone sees it this way but for me that's all it was. It has these more serious moments and it has parts that are kinda unbelievable and at one point or another every character is unlikable and they all have flaws and some parts in this book are just plain annoying but overall it's just fun. I feel like this is not a book that takes itself seriously which I love. I don't imagine it's one of those books that can change your life or the way you see things it's just a book that is extremely fun to read.(Jeez why don't I say fun one more time?) Fun. I'm not gonna say it had the best plot or the best characters or the best hidden message or that it was even the funniest book I've ever read, I'm just saying I really enjoyed reading it and that's enough for me. It didn't give me all the feels but also it didn't annoy me to no end or make me want to smash my head against the wall. It's not a book that I will never forget but it is a book that I will read over and over again and that's really all you can ask a book to be isn't it? Something you want to read again and again just because it's fun?Okay that's the end of this increasingly weird/bad review!Would I Recommend This? YesWho To? People who just want a good book that can make them laugh and that they don't have to take too seriously.Will I read more from this author(or series)? Is that even a question?

his is an excellent history of the Spanish conquest of Peru and its aftermath. Detailed history of Inca resistance and initial losses. It was a much hard fought colonization than usually presented in history books. Give lush detail on the activities of the later Inca emperor in their struggle to rid themselves of the Spanish. The one drawback is that MacQuarrie give little ;credit to the Indian allies of the Spanish. He makes it sound like a small band of Spanish on horses fended off hundreds of thousands of the Incas and there allies in one siege that last for more than a year. At the same time, it is clear that the Incas had powerful native enemies. This part of the story is hardly convincing. Otherwise it is a great read,

This is a great overview of the Incas after their first contact with the Spanish. I picked up this book after traveling to Peru as I was just fascinated by everything Inca when I was there and realized how little I knew. I would recommend you read this book BEFORE you go to Peru if you are going; picturing thousands of warriors standing atop Sacsaywaman fighting 100 Spanish knights, and being able to see the walls they stood on would be breathtaking.Sadly, this book really only focuses on the Spanish conquest, but this is not the fault of the author. The lack of writing, and the ruthless culling of all things local by the Spanish after their arrival, means that the specifics of the Inca's history is incredibly sparse pre-conquest.Definitely a great book to read if you are interested in the Incas.

I am amazed at the level of detail in this book right from the first footsteps in the foreign land. Incredible read that places you in the heart of historical battles and conquest as if you were there. One such battle, puts 200 Conquistadors (and slaves) against an Inca army of 20,000 warriors the author puts you in the very heart of the battle so you can not help but feel the rising panic in your throat as you read.A Very well researched book that explores not only the differing cultures but highlights mans unflinching avarice and greed, often becoming more savage than the "savages" being conquered in the name of a God the inca never could comprehend or understand.

I do recommend this book but there are two issues I have:1. The author basically exonerates the Incan leadership of any blame for the defeats by Pizarro. Of course no one can know how long the Incans could have held out against a continuous onslaught of Spanish over time, but better leadership from Atahualpa and Pizzaro is an unknown person in history. The Incans like the Romans got a Commodus when they needed a Marcus Aurelius...2. The author does not do a very good job of showing the exploitative structure that was the Incan Empire. For sure the Incas had better government than the Aztecs, but it was still a very exploitative structure...in fact, the encomienda system was very similar to the Incan system.All this said, this is overall a very good book and I would highly recommend it.

This is an excellent book, and does a superb job in detailing the last years of the Inca Empire. Kim has done a marvellous job in bringing the last years of the Inca Empire. I had read about this vaguely, but this brought a whole new world to life.He has been balanced in his approach, and while he undoubtedly indicts the Spanish for their appalling behaviour, he does, subtly, show that they were brave (but, cruel) men, who had no respect for the Inca culture. This is, however, not restricted to the Spanish. The English did not respect Indian culture when they came into India. My own countrymen have been guilty of similar transgressions, I am sure, when the South Indian kings spread Hindu culture in South Easy Asia. This does not excuse the Spaniards, however.The last days have been brought to life in a manner that is sad, exciting, tragic all rolled into one. Yes, I agree with the reviewer "CJA' in that he could have spoken about how the Spanish subsequently tried to stamp out the Inca culture, but I would not have traded this for the tale of how the ruins were discovered.All in all, a marvellous book.

Kim MacQuarrie provides a well-written, and engaging telling of the first Spanish incursions into Peru, from the Extremadura origins of the Pizarro family, to the execution of Atahualpa and beyond. I picked this up because I was planning a trip to Peru, and, specifically, Lima, Cuzco, Machu Picchu and Puno. At halfway through the book, I've learned a great deal about the pre-Colombian societies that pre-dated the rise of the Inca, the story of the rise of the Inca, the complicated succession struggles among Inca royalty, the Spanish designs on manipulating the Inca leaders to increase their wealth and gain social standing and so forth. The tale is a bloody one, but MacQuarrie tells it well, and gives a thorough accounting of all the major players. The book comes complete with illustrations and quotes pertinent to each historical period. I strongly recommmend this as a read for someone with little to no knowledge of Peruvian history.

I homeschool my daughter and this workbook has been very helpful so far. It has 20 sets of words, each set containing 20 words and 4 practice pages. My daughter does one set of words per week. There's a workbook page for the first 4 days of the week and she takes a spelling test on day 5.

Loads of choices as to what exercises to complete to gain proficiency with each word list. Visually laid out in a way that is not too overwhelming. I recently ordered a 2nd copy for my upcoming 6th grader.

I wasn't sure what to expect but I feel the words listed are excellent and the exercises that go with each word list are instructional.

I very much needed resource for the children I tutor. The exercises are nice. They will definitely become of good use.

I love the fact that there are different ways to study these words! I do believe its going to help my daughter tremendously! Thank you!

It was excellent-I gave it to a 7th grade teacher. It was too high a level for the group of 6th graders I have this year.

I love National Geographic's board books for toddlers. Both my kids (3.5 and 1.5 years old) really enjoy spending time with them and I am sure they learn a lot. The 'Look and Learn' series target younger kids (1-4 years) in general but some books are for the younger and some books are for the older ages within that range. In particular this book aims the younger children (I would say 1-2 years old) but the vibrant colors and beautiful pictures would attract the older ones too.this book is a 4.5 X 4.5 inches square with 22 pages. It is a classical board book design so that younger children can enjoy it without tearing the pages. The binding is of good quality (our experience from other books of these series) and the colors are vibrant.The colors included are orange, green, yellow, red and blue. Each color is mentioned in four pages. The first two gives random examples of items that share that color and the next two pages is like a quiz where it asks the child to find that color in a mixed picture. Final two pages are like a general quiz design where all colors are asked within one example.Not only it would help the little one learn the colors and the items that were depicted, but also you can manipulate the quiz pages and ask many other questions of your choosing.I am happy for the purchase

This book is ok. I have expected it to be a little bit more educational though. The size is good for small kids but the content is not too great. some of these pages just don't make much sense for a toddler. There are easier and better ways to show opposites. Overall the book is not necessarily bad but I would not buy it again if I had a choice.

This is a good book, my two year old daughter enjoys it. The National Geographic book series is very good with lots of great pictures and a few teaching points and scientific facts. I will buy more books like this for sure.

I bought a few of these books for my friends 2yr olds birthday. Shes a more intelligent toddler so I looked for books that would match that. The pictures are bright, the information is good for a small child, short sentences with little informational tidbits. I think these will be excellent.

This is a really great little book. My son (20 months) has recently been interested in "real-picture" books and this one is perfect. It has enough pictures on each page to keep him interested, but it's not overly busy. It's a great book if you want to work on vocabulary.

My son is 15 months old and he loves books. He will pick this book up, but he is not super interested in it. The pictures are vibrant and I like that they have little facts on some pages. I was expecting a little bit more from National Geographic.

Love these books. Planning on buying the whole series.
